Coffee in India is grown under a canopy of thick natural shade in ecologically sensitive regions of the Western and Eastern Ghats. Coffee contributes significantly to sustain the unique bio-diversity of the region and is also responsible for the socio-economic development in the remote, hilly areas. Coffees of India are entirely hand picked and completely sun dried. India also produces well known specialty coffees viz., Robusta Kaapi Royale, Mysore Nuggets Extra Bold and Monsooned Malabar.
The Coffee Board as the nodal agency for the coffee sector in India is the friend, philosopher and guide to the Indian coffee sector and carries out Research, Development, Quality Control, Market development and Promotion of coffee. It is a statutory organization established under an Act of Parliament, under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. It looks after the overall growth and development of the Indian Coffee Industry".
